The patriotic high-seas adventure film, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World starring academy award winner Russell Crowe exceeded all expectations on its video DVD release this week. It sailed in at the number 1 hot spot in the Home Entertainment charts with sales figures far exceeding expectations.
”It is thanks to the powerful combination of excellent retail support, high-impact marketing and a 2disc 1disc strategy that continues to offer the consumer great product at a great price.” John Stanley, Managing Director, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment
Twentieth Century Fox worked closely with in-store experts, Play to produce an impressive in-store campaign. The lead graphics concentrate on the epic battle action scenes and the high seas adventure using a strong and consistent colour theme to increase stand-out in-store. Play produced and designed a full range of promotional work including banners, free standing displays, bus stops and counter packs to capitalize on impulse opportunities in stores of varying size.
Certain stores also featured tailored displays for extra impact and to help create an event around the launch, for example London Oxford Street’s Virgin Megastore (pictured).
